CAS, Service – CAS PROJECT 3
My primary CAS project has taken somewhat of a turn. The original organization I was working was no longer able to support my project. I have the funds in the plan set up to implement this project, but the school's principal had a change of heart, despite the fact the faculty still wanting to continue with this project. I had to move on, but found another need that was very important. I found an organization called small steps nurturing Center. They support kids who are underprivileged and economically challenged. They provide them with meals education and transportation. I spent my first day on this new project meeting with the schools director. I found that they had a fairly serious need. Their playgrounds had sensing, but it was very open and not protective. The schools were in rough parts of town, where they would deal strangers coming up to the fence. They needed this fencing to be blocked so the students could have more protection. I spent some time brainstorming, and working with the school director we identified a solution to block the fencing and decorative and protective way that would match the school colors. This connects to LO6. Although it may not be completely evident, security and safety of kids is a huge issue across the world. This may be a drop in the bucket, but it is a very important issue.
