CAS, Service – CAS PROJECT 5

I finally met the point of implementing my project. Over 15 workers came to help with installation, which we did over roughly 24 hours on three different days. The project was successful, and challenging during the day, because it was hot and strenuous work, but there was something that really stood out me during the project. While working a homeless man came to the site of the project. He seemed a little disoriented, but he wouldn't leave the workers, as young as 13, alone. I had to make a split second decision, either to call the cops, or confront him. Calling the cops is only a consideration because the school warned about other the vigils that maybe criminals in the area. However, I decided to pause and think through the logistics and ethics of my decision. I realize that this was just a homeless man, and we had food and water. Instead of being confrontational, angry, or disturbed, we offered him pizza and water, and he went off on his way. I think this was a really great instance of how to consider the ethics of your actions, which connects to LO7.
